Southeast Missouri State University provost Dr. Ron Rosati was one of at least five Cape Girardeau-area runners who raced in Monday’s Boston Marathon. Tragedy struck the race when two explosive devices killed three people and injured more than 170.

Redhawks And Salukis Hope To Play Football At Busch Stadium

Busch Stadium in St. Louis may be filled with chants for the Redhawks and Salukis this fall. Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University hope to play the first football game ever at the new stadium.

The universities are still finalizing plans to play a football game in St. Louis on September 21.

Both Southeast and SIU have large alum populations in St. Louis. Southeast athletic director Mark Alnutt says that’s what makes SIU a good opponent at Busch Stadium.

Missouri’s 8^th District US Representative Jo Ann Emerson submitted her letter of resignation to Governor Jay Nixon and House speaker John Boehner today. The 8^th district includes 27 of the state’s south-east and south-central counties. Now, Nixon must call for a special election to fill out the remainder of Emerson’s term.

Army Corps' Options Dwindle Along With Mississippi River

Every day this month, the Army Corps of Engineers is working hard to deepen the Mississippi River's shipping channel in an effort to keep navigation open between St. Louis and Cairo, Ill.

Water levels are forecast to remain high enough through January to float loaded barges, but some say the only way to keep the river open next month will be to release water from the Missouri River.
