The Kentucky Board of Education will soon reconsider its policies governing middle school athletics. A legislative task force crafted final recommendations this week, which include many policies already in place at the high school level.

Zay Jackson Case Goes to Grand Jury

The Zaveral “Zay” Jackson case goes to a grand jury. The Paducah Sun reports the Murray State point guard turned down a plea-deal in a Calloway Circuit Court hearing yesterday. The deal had offered a one-year-jail sentence and the possibility of shock probation. Jackson is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. Two Paducah residents claim the 20-year-old basketball player from Hammond, La., hit them with his car in September.

MSU Regular Season Basketball Begins

The Murray State women’s team will start off the night with a game against the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers at 5:15. Louisiana State University says they've approached Murray State head coach Steve Prohm about filling their open coaching position. An LSU spokesperson tells WAFB in Baton Rouge they did meet with Prohm, but he is not a candidate for the coaching spot vacated by Trent Johnson. Johnson left LSU for the top spot at Texas Christian University earlier this week.

UK Celebrations Continue

Thousands of UK fans packed into Rupp Arena this afternoon for a celebration of the men’s basketball teaming winning the NCAA title.

Think of it as a mini version of Big Blue Madness. More than 20,000 people got free tickets to the Kentucky celebration at Rupp Arena this afternoon. Robert Rose drove up from Powell County to get a look at the 2012 Wildcats and their championship trophy.

“Means everything to me and my family. We’ve been UK fans, raised on it since we was little.”
