Growing up in Metropolis, Illinois, all Buddy Hall ever wanted to do was play pool. Hall was a pool professional for more than 50 years. He’s winner of 67 majors, 13 world titles, a five-time player of the years, and member of three halls of fame, including the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame. These days, he’s retired … or, at least semi-retired. He’s slowed down, but says he can’t keep away. Angela Hatton caught up with Hall at a tournament in Murray.

Honeywell Lays Off 228 Union and Non-Union Workers at Metropolis Plant

Officials at Honeywell’s Metropolis plant will lay off more than 220 employees while the company continues to evaluate a series of upgrades to prepare for extreme natural disasters. The plant has been temporarily shut down since late May.

United Steel workers Local 7669 officials say there was a seven minute uranium hexafluoride leak at Honeywell’s Metropolis, Illinois plant earlier this month. They also allege the community was not notified of the incident.

Judge Upholds Metropolis Adult Club Ordinance

A judge says the city of Metropolis, Illinois can now enforce laws restricting adult businesses in the city limits. On Friday, southern Illinois US District Court Judge Phil Gilbert ruled the city can enforce ordinances restricting alcohol sales, dancer attire, and contact with customers. City officials drafted the ordinances last year shortly after the opening of the Pony adult dance club.
