WKMS Fundraiser WormSpring Fund Drivedivider

Dear listeners,

Murray, KY – Public radio station WKMS-FM has reached 100 percent of its spring fund drive listener support goal needed for its operating budget!  Business challenge grant contributors exceeded their goal, adding over $20,000 to the WKMS budget by encouraging matching listener pledges. Congratulations for raising $110,00 in listener contributions for WKMS!

Listeners primarily from the station’s signal reach in western Kentucky, southern Illinois and northwestern Tennessee contribute one third of the direct operating revenues and a fifth of all total revenues for WKMS.  These revenues enable the station to produce regional and subscribe to national programming content, to acquire and activate new broadcast technologies including the recent addition of HD broadcasting capability, signal expansion, employment and training of Murray State University students as well as to offset normal operating expenses.

Station Manager Kate Lochte says "we're grateful to our listeners who have given and we will continue to work with those who haven't yet had a chance to do so."  Lochte says the station must meet goal because "individual contributors show that our community believes WKMS is a cultural institution worthy of support."  She added that listener financial contributions to the station also leverage support from other funding sources, including Murray State University, business underwriters, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The station maintains a secure web pledge site at wkms.org where contributions are welcome.  The station also accepts donations by mail.  Checks should be made payable to WKMS/MSU Foundation and mailed to WKMS, 2018 University Station, Murray, KY  42071.

For further information, call 800-599-4737 or e-mail wkms@murraystate.edu.
