For the Sake of the Song

Every Saturday night at 11, host Austin Carter brings you “For the Sake of the Song.”  Each week you’ll hear a genre-defying mix of great songs from artists past and present.  It’s like Duke Ellington once said, “There are only two kinds of music.  Good music, and the other kind.”  For the Sake of the Song has no format and no rules. Just great music.

Austin Carter began his WKMS career in 2004 while still in high school.  In 2006 he left the station to study Commercial Guitar at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.  After a year at Belmont, Austin spent the next year working, writing songs and playing shows in the Music City.  In June, he returned to Murray and to WKMS.  Over the years, Austin has produced AP award winning news features, worked with WKMS’ local commentators, co-hosted “Sounds Acoustic” and now hosts “For the Sake of the Song,” Saturday nights at 11 p.m.  In addition to his radio work, Austin takes classes at Murray State, teaches guitar lessons in Murray and listens to a lot of music.
