Benton, KY – Despite national falling home prices, Kentucky Lake area realtors say their market is stable. Former Kentucky-Barkley Lakes Board of Realtors President Diana Stubblefield says property values continue to increase, but slowly. She says the only negative affecting her market is prices reaching a plateau in some cases. Stubblefield tells the Marshall County Tribune-Courier lake area housing costs were never over-inflated. She says now is a great time to buy for residents who have good credit.

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Bill Jones of Paducah chairman-elect of the state's leading business organization. Jones works as the U. S. Bank Community Division Manager and previously served as the chamber's Vice-Chair of Business Education. He will also serve as interim treasurer. Jones replaces previous chair-elect Joan Coleman, who recently retired.

Murray, KY – Purchase Area Master Gardeners host Dr. Tom Barnes of the University of Kentucky Department of Forestry for their Gardener's Toolbox Series at Western Baptist Heart Center Auditorium in Paducah Friday, Jan. 23. Hopkinsville, KY – A western Kentucky development agency has received a 250 thousand dollar grant to enhance opportunities for the region's workforce. The West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board plans to use the grant to increase skills training and education opportunities in the eight Purchase Area counties, as well as Henry and Weakly counties in Tennessee and Illinois' Massac County. Additionally, the board hopes to use the funding to promote growth in industries such as energy, advanced manufacturing and health care.
