Murray, KY – In 1959, author Truman Capote set out to write about the murder of a Kansas family and the two drifters accused of the crime. The subsequent five years would culminate in the acclaimed non-fiction novel, In Cold Blood. Maiden Alley Cinema's Larry Thomas talked to Bryan Bartlett about the Oscar-nominated biopic, Capote, starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Thomas says Hoffman's portrayal of Capote is dead-on.

Murray, KY – Two Murray State Professors have helped to develop a new communication system to give remote rural areas access to otherwise unheard of communication amenities during a crisis.

Murray, KY – Over 100 evacuees from New Orleans arrived in Murray and are staying at the Woodmen of the World Youthcamp just north of town. Some have left to go stay with family elsewhere. Some have found work here and may end up staying. Others continue to search for missing family members who have been lost since Hurricane Katrina.

Murray, KY – The concept goes back literally hundreds of years, and is rooted in British higher education.

So-called "residential colleges" serve to integrate students on a university campus. They form a body of distinct social communities, and are led by faculty, but set up to allow student initiative. Murray State University's eight residential colleges have been operating since the mid-1990's.
