Southern Illinois – Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan has appointed a special committee to recommend whether Blagojevich should be impeached. Pamella Gronemeyer is a Southern Illinois pathologist and a 19th Congressional District point person for the Progressive Democrats of America. She says there just isn't time for a long, drawn-out process. Instead, she says, the PDA is calling for Blagojevich to step down immediately.
Frankfort, KY – All eight of Kentucky's Electoral College votes for President of the United States have been cast for Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona. The electors, meeting at the State Capitol, also voted for Republican Sarah Palin for Vice-President. Secretary of State Trey Grayson says the votes from each state will be sealed and sent to the President of the U-S Senate, who will open them January 8th and read the results to both houses of Congress.
Paducah, KY – The National Weather Service in Paducah has put a winter storm advisory into effect for residents of western Kentucky, southern Illinois and southeastern Missouri until 6 a.m. tomorrow. NWS meteorologist David Humphries says area residents can expect a mix of snow and ice this evening.
"By tomorrow morning we think you'll have a good covering of anywhere from one inch to maybe two inches of snow and ice on the ground which of course can make for treacherous travel conditions."
