Kentucky to Receive FEMA Assistance

Frankfort, KY – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will offer disaster relief aid to Kentucky residents affected by mid-September's windstorms. Governor Beshear requested assistance after multiple counties statewide incurred severe damage from winds associated with tropical depression Ike. The declaration will make federal assistance available across the Commonwealth, including in eighteen western Kentucky counties.

James Marine Worker

Paducah, KY – Emergency crews rushed a James Marine worker to the hospital after he fell from a dry dock Wednesday night. The McCracken County Sheriff's Department confirms the man slipped and fell approximately 20 feet while working on the side of a dry dock. Upon arrival at the scene, crews found the man unconscious and not breathing. A sheriff's deputy and firefighter pulled him to safety.

Executive Inn Search

Paducah, KY – Information from former Executive Inn employees prompted last week's search and property seizure. Police confiscated computers, file drawers, ledgers, and paperwork. The search warrant, filed by Commonwealth Attorney Tim Kaltenbach, shows deposits for 500 room reservations for the April quilt show in bank accounts controlled by hotel owner Bhupinder Singh. The Paducah Sun reports prior to the October 2 search, police were investigating the whereabouts of at least 40-thousand-dollars collected for room deposits. (The Paducah Sun)
