One of the world's most famous gold depositories has opened its vaults to civilians for the first time in more than 40 years.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin led a delegation of Kentucky politicians to the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox on Monday. Mnuchin said he is just the third treasury secretary to view the gold at Fort Knox, where a large portion of the country's gold reserves is held.
The visitors included Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie and Gov. Matt Bevin.
McConnell told The Associated Press he held a gold bar in his hands, saying it reminded him of the James Bond movie "Goldfinger."
