Changes To Kentucky Handicap Placards Coming This Fall

Changes are coming to handicap placards in the Commonwealth this fall to help reduce fraud.

According to a release from the Governor’s office, new permanent and temporary disabled placards will feature a decal with a printed expiration date.

These changes will take place on September 17th.

A bill passed in March of this year will now require payment for duplicate parking placards. In 2008, Kentucky issued more than 32,000 placards. In 2009, after the state stopped charging a fee, the state issued over 200,000 placards.
