Clarksville Homicides on the Rise

Homicides in Clarksville are on the rise, according to data from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Ten cases took place just this year, compared to eight (six in the city, two in Montgomery County) in 2013. This year's numbers come out to seven homicides per 100,000 people.

The increase contrasts an FBI report that found murder totals in the South to be on the decline.

Some 180,000 people call Montgomery County home; roughly 142,000 of those reside in Clarksville.
