Legislation to expand charitable gaming opportunities for certain non-profit organizations is headed to the House floor. Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations Committee Chair Adam Koenig said the measure pertains to certain non-profit organizations.

“This bill largely just codifies it in a way that we make sure that it’s being done in a way that conforms with charitable gaming laws and the IRS,” said Koenig.

Koenig said it’s primarily aimed at addressing uncertainties regarding raffle events at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. He said it allows for a dozen such events each year.

“You get up to 12 special individual licenses to conduct these raffles and I believe it’s for 501c7’s. So, if you’re a 501c7, then this would apply to you,” said Koenig.

Koenig said the measure does expand charitable gaming opportunities to 501c7 registered organizations. 501c7’s are described as typically a social or recreational club organized for pleasure, recreation, and other non-profitable purposes.

The northern Kentucky lawmaker said it allows for 12 such events annually.
