Datebook 5/30: Locally Grown Reading, Spokes for Strokes, Town & Gown Chorale

The McCracken County Public Library launches its “Locally Grown” themed summer reading lineup with a live performance by the award-winning blues act the Alonzo Pennington Band. The performance is this Thursday night at 7 in the library garden.

Baptist Health Paducah hosts its fifth Spokes for Strokes bike tour this Saturday to raise stroke awareness and funds for life-saving technologies and expanded stroke care services. Registration starts Saturday morning at 7 at the Baptist Health Imaging Center, and the tour starts at 8. 10-, 35-, or 65-mile rides are available.

The MSU Town & Gown Chorale is getting ready to start rehearsing for the 2016 July 4th Freedom Fest concert. Rehearsals start next Monday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. in room 314 of the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building on the Murray State University campus. No auditions are required. All community singers are invited to participate. The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Bradley Almquist.
