"Any politician who refuses to stand up for our children is complicit in their murder," said Dr. Sterling Haring at the West Kentucky March For Our Lives Rally in March.

Physicians are banding together under the trending hashtag "This Is My Lane" after comments from the National Rifle Association suggested they "stay in their lane" when it comes to gun violence. Vanderbilt physician Dr. Sterling Haring is among those in the medical field speaking out and sharing personal stories of tending to victims of gun violence. He tended to Marshall County High School shooting victims. Taylor Inman speaks with Haring about gun violence and his contribution to a new book.

Haring said doctors should have a seat at the table for speaking about gun violence as a public health issue, just as they do for tobacco and opioids.

Haring is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Taylor is a recent Murray State University graduate where she studied journalism and history. When she's not reporting for WKMS, she enjoys creative writing and traveling. She loves writing stories that involve diversity, local culture and history, nature and recreation, art and music, and national or local politics.
