The Kentucky Department of Education will wrap up a series of town hall meetings tonight in Henderson. Education leaders have been soliciting feedback on a proposed accountability system to measure student proficiency.
Education Commissioner Stephen Pruitt says the new system will go beyond test scores and will focus on the ‘whole’ child.
Pruitt says access to fine arts, civics, health and physical education are all necessary for students to receive a quality education. The Kentucky Board of Education is expected to approve the new model this spring and it will be implemented in the 2018-19 school year.
Tonight’s public meeting will begin at 6:30pm at the Henderson County Schools Professional Development Center.
