Producers of a show airing on KET that highlights Kentucky’s waterways and spirits industry are setting sights on Paducah and the surrounding region.

‘Downstream’ executive producer Kyle Lake said the travel series aims to bring attention to the tens of thousands of miles of state waterways while also highlighting local breweries, distilleries and wineries. Lake said as a Paducah native he believes the region has a lot of potential for the program.

“Obviously there’s a lot of waterway opportunities there with LBL, the lakes there, we got the river systems….we just touched the surface on what we could do there.” Lake said.

Two episodes have aired and Lake says research for future episodes is underway.

“We shot a story on the white water kayak training program down at Russell Fork, near the border of  Virginia and Kentucky...Paducah is on the radar, we got Somerset, we got the Bourbon Festival and Rolling Fork river outside of Bardstown there…” Lake said.

The next episode looks at Louisville’s public water system and will air in the fall.
