Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Matt Bevin will end his primary campaign to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell with a six-day, 26-county bus tour.
The "New Generation of Leadership" tour will stop in McCracken County on Monday, May 19 - the day before primary polls open.
"Without a doubt, our greatest Kentucky resource is our people,” said Bevin spokeswoman Sarah Durand in a statement. “Matt has put over 47,000 miles on his truck since the start of this race and he is very excited to continue meeting with folks as we look to victory next week.”
In an NBC News/Marist poll released Monday, Bevin trailed McConnell by 32 points among GOP voters. The tea partyer has struggled in recent weeks, losing a campaign spokeswoman and playing damage control after delivering a speech at a pro-cockfighting rally.
