The Kentucky Division of Forestry has put its seasonal burn ban in effect through December 15th.
The ban makes it illegal to burn anything in or within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Division of Forestry reports there were 980 fires in 2013, which is the first year in a decade to see fewer than 1,000 fires.
Through August 25 of this year, more than 3,600 acres have been burned in over 1,200 fires. Nearly 800 of those were due to arson.
