Fire damaged a popular downtown Lexington nightspot Friday morning.

Lexington Battalion Chief Chris Ward said multiple calls came in about 9:00 a.m. regarding the fire at Belle’s Cocktail House on Market Street.

He said the fire damage occurred in a rooftop patio area.

“I don’t know if there was electrical.  I’m sure there was some electrical up there in the same area.  It was like a bar area that was on a patio area up there.  So there was a refrigerator and some storage,” Ward said.

Ward says, to his knowledge, there was no one in the building at the time of the fire.

No serious injuries were reported.

Fire official said the cause is under investigation.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Belle’s Co-Owner Justin Thompson said the bar is closed indefinitely, but he does have plans to reopen once repairs are made.
