Fugitive Arrested In Murray After Fleeing Michigan Courtroom Nearly 17 Years Ago

A man is in the Calloway County Jail after being on the run for nearly 17 years.

Hiram Abiff Hawkins, 40, had been living under the false identity of Robert Martin in Murray for several years.

The Murray Police Department was contacted by the U.S. Marshal’s Office which led to his arrest. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals and the Murray Police without incident.

Hawkins was tried in 2002 in Michigan for two counts of criminal sexual assault. He fled the courtroom while the verdict was being read.

According to the Calloway County Jail website, he was booked on Monday.
