Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews are closing a short section of Interstate 24 in Montgomery County through the weekend.
The closure is expected to cause lengthy delays for eastbound traffic.
Beginning today, Eastbound I-24 traffic will be detoured at Exit 8 and back onto the interstate via the entrance and exit ramps.
The restriction will be in place until Monday morning.
The closure is to allow for demolition of the bridge over the interstate as part of a project to widen State Route 237 from west of I-24 to east of International Boulevard.
Westbound traffic was closed last weekend to provide for work on the opposite side of the interstate.
TDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and use alternate routes.
