Kentucky Arts Council Offers Advice for Artists
Kentucky artists will see some of their best sales over the next few months. October is a busy month for fall arts and crafts festivals. Then, the holiday shopping season begins in November. The Kentucky Arts Council is offering marketing advice to artists in a series of workshops. For example, Executive Director Lori Meadows says artists should create and maintain relationships with potential buyers. She says,
“They need to have a way to reconnect with people. Let them know about future shows that are coming up or if they have someone coming through with a gallery or maybe for another festival or market, something like that. They need to have materials to send away with those folks.”
Meadows says artists sometimes need advice on whether to sell at festivals and special events, or to focus on wholesale. The next arts marketing workshop is November 9.
