Some 130 Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas and Electric contractors are lending their services to the citizens of Florida.

The crews will be assisting with any electrical restoration as a result of Hurricane Matthew.  KU Spokesman Cliff Feltham says it won’t mean increased response time for any electrical issues in Kentucky.

“Part of the reason we decided we wouldn’t send any company personnel is because we never know what we’re gonna face over the course of how ever many days those contractors are gonna be in Florida," said Feltham.

Feltham says workers going to Florida are typically serving on construction, tree trimming, and line crews.  He says KU contractors from all across Kentucky are lending a hand in Florida.
