Mongiardo to Run for Senate
By Angela Hatton
Frankfort, KY – Lieutenant Governor Dan Mongiardo issued a statement today stating he will seek the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate next year. Mongiardo's declaration may mean a possible rematch with two-term Republican incumbent Jim Bunning. The Lieutenant Governor says he first entered politics to improve healthcare and believes he could do more to accomplish that as a senator than he can as Kentucky's second-in-command. Attorney General Jack Conway and Auditor Crit Luallen are also considering running against Bunning. They plan to announce their decisions by spring.
