More than 130 Soldiers to Return to Fort Campbell from Africa

U.S. ARMY FORT CAMPBELL FACEBOOK

More than 130 soldiers with the 1st Brigade Combat Team with the 101st Airborne Division are returning to Fort Campbell on Wednesday.

The team known as 'Bastogne' returns from a six-month trip supporting U.S. Africa Command on the Horn of Africa.

The majority of soldiers were stationed at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti and also provided security forces in South Sudan - a first for the 101st Airborne Division.

A ceremony for the returning soldiers is at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Campbell.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
