Multiple Counties In West KY Record High Unemployment Rates

Jobless rates in west Kentucky remain among the highest in the Commonwealth according to the state’s Workforce Development Cabinet.

Both Livingston and Ballard counties reported unemployment rates at 6.8 percent and 6.9 percent respectively.

Todd County recorded the lowest jobless rate in west Kentucky last month at 3.6 percent, matching the national average. The state’s unemployment rate stood at 4.2 percent. Calloway County was also close to the national average at 3.7 percent. Jobless rates fell in 117 counties from May 2017 to May 2018.

Woodford County recorded the state’s lowest jobless rate at 2.9 percent, while Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest at 12 percent.
