The Murray City Council is about to tackle some hot button issues, including a looming payroll tax and the sales of alcohol on Sundays.
The agenda for Thursday night's meeting includes a report from Kentucky League of Cities deputy executive director J.D. Chaney. He’ll go over statistics on payroll tax revenue from cities similar in size to Murray, as the council positions itself for a future vote on an occupational tax for Murray residents.
The agenda also allows for at least a discussion of what a new ordinance allowing alcohol sales on Sundays would look like.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Murray City Hall. WKMS will have coverage of the meeting online Thursday night and during Morning Edition on Friday.
