The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says motorists should prepare for heavy traffic for visitation and funeral services of a Hickman Police officer who died last weekend.

KYTC says to expect delays on the Julian Carroll-Purchase Parkway beginning around 5 p.m. Monday through noon on Tuesday at the Kentucky 80 Exit 22 in Mayfield.

KYTC says dozens of police agencies are expected to attend the visitation and funeral services of Hickman City Police Officer Rodney Smith.

Kentucky State Police says the funeral procession on Tuesday will travel from North Sutton Road to the Purchase Parkway traveling south to exit 21, U.S. 45 South. It will then continue to Pryorsburg and end at Mount Olive Methodist Church Cemetery.

KSP says the procession is expected to be “extremely lengthy.”

Smith, who was 45,was found dead Saturday in a flooded field in Hickman after having gone missing the night before.

The funeral services will be held at First Assembly of God in Mayfield.
