Paducah City Hall Renovations To Begin Next Week

CITY OF PADUCAH

Phase one of the Paducah City Hall Renovation Project is set to begin next week.

According to Engineering Project Manager Maegan Mansfield, the contractor, A&K Construction, will begin mobilizing to start the project. A&K will be using a portion of the city-owned parking lot on Clark Street to store equipment and materials.

Clark Street will be closed from South 4th Street to the basement entrance to City Hall.

Initial work will include cleaning the building’s exterior and the installation of protection zones around the trees that surround City Hall.

In January, the Paducah Board of Commissioners approved an ordinance for a contract with A&K Construction for approximately $4.3 million.

The project includes concrete repairs and replacement, steel beam stabilization of roof cantilevers, roofing membrane and skylight replacement, exterior window and door replacement, and the replacement of HVAC source equipment.

Last year, Paducah City Hall was named to the National Register of Historic Places. Famed architect Edward Durrell Stone designed the building in the early 1960s. Stone also designed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Radio City Music Hall and the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India.
