The Paducah Convention and Visitors Bureau signed on as a partner in a national research study measuring the economic impact of arts and cultural activities in the city.

The Americans for the Arts study titled "Arts and Economic Prosperity V" analyzes financial information from nonprofit arts and culture organizations and audience intercept surveys to determine a monetary total demonstrating the impact of arts in the community.

Paducah CVB Marketing Director Laura Schaumberg Oswald says she hopes the findings will help organizations as they pursue grants and funding.

A 2012 Americans for the Arts study found nonprofit arts and culture generated nearly $40 million dollars for the greater Paducah area, supported more than 530 full-time equivalent jobs and more than $2 million in local and state government revenue.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
