Paducah Group Organizing 'March for Science' on Earth Day

March for Science, Facebook

Paducah Progressive Action is organizing a March for Science on April 22, the same day as the national march in Washington D.C.

The “satellite march" in Paducah coincides with the national March for Science in Washington, D.C.  Lea Wentworth is Media Liaison for Paducah Progressive Action. She said the organization hopes the march sends a message of support for science.

“We support evidence-based research and funding for scientific research and policy making based on that research,” Wentworth said. “There’s been an alarming trend to disregard scientific research done by the Environmental Protection Agency.”

The Paducah march is one of four science marches in Kentucky on Earth Day, including one in Bowling Green. The Paducah march begins at 2 p.m. and will end at 5 p.m. Wentworth said the location of the march is pending, but Paducah Progressive Action hopes to secure a route from Fountain Avenue and Broadway to Dolly McNutt Plaza. The Bowling Green march will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
