Puppies Sounds Good: Meet Julie

On this month's "Puppies Sounds Good," we meet Julie, a miniature poodle, and Austin Carter talks with Humane Society of Calloway County's Kathy Hodge about the Humane Society's spring event season, which includes their 8th Annual Doggie Easter Bone Hunt.

Julie, a gray miniature poodle with a calm and sweet demeanor, visited the studio for this month's Puppies Sounds Good. Julie has floppy ears and signature poodle curls. She also has a brother who is identically curly, but jet black. Both dogs are updated on shots, good-tempered, and will be available for adoption soon.

The Humane Society and Toyota of Murray have partnered to host an upcoming event called Cruising for Canines, which features free micr0-chipping for cats and dogs at the Toyota dealership. The event takes place on Saturday, March 24th, from 10 am to 2 pm. Refreshments, music, and photos make the day as entertaining as it is convenient. The dealership is also hosting a dog food drive this week and selling T-shirts for $10.

The 8th Annual Doggie Easter Bone Hunt is also coming up on Saturday, March 31st, at the Central Park Courthouse Pavilion in Murray from 2 to 3:30. Along with a hunt for treat-filled eggs, the day will feature an Easter Bonnet parade, photos with the Easter Bunny, and paw painting. Discounted tags and microchipping are available starting at $4 and $10, respectively. For more information, visit the Humane Society of Calloway County's website.

Austin Carter is a Murray State grad and has been involved with WKMS since he was in high school. Over the years he has been a producer for WKMS and has hosted several music shows, but now calls Morning Edition his home each weekday morning.
