Pvt. 2nd Class Jermey Wells Killed In Training Accident At Fort Campbell

Update Friday Night: The 101st Airborne Division has identified the soldier who died in a training accident this week as 19-year-old Pvt. 2nd Class Jeremy Wells of Adairsville, Georgia. 

At the time of the incident, Wells was conducting weapons training at a small-arms range on base. He died from his wounds after being medically evacuated to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. 

He was an aircraft electrician in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. Wells joined the Army in 2017 and completed training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Eustis, Virginia before coming to For Campbell in 2018.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

He was posthumously awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.

  A soldier with the 101st Airborne Division has died as the result of an accident during routine training at Fort Campbell.

 The incident occurred at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The soldier was pronounced deceased at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.

 

The name of the soldier has not been released.

 

There were no other injuries.

 

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
