Retail Development Group Acquires Land for New 'Hopkinsville Towne Center'

City of Hopkinsville

A retail development group has acquired 20.5 acres in Hopkinsville for a new shopping center. Thompson Thrift Retail Group says the site at Fort Campbell Boulevard and Lovers’ Lane will be home to the 185,000 square-foot building, named Hopkinsville Towne Center.

The space will be anchored by TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, Burke's Outlet, Hobby Lobby, PetSmart and Rack Room Shoes. The developer also plans to add regional retailers and restaurants and expects the space to be fully-leased upon by late summer 2017.

The project is estimated to bring around 250 full and part-time jobs to the area with salaries ranging from 25-70 thousand dollars. The project is estimated around $30 million dollars. The city entered a grant agreement with Thompson Thrift

City and council officials have been working with Thompson Thrift since mid-2012. The city entered a grant agreement with the developer, allocating $2.9 million towards the project.

Thompson Thrift Director of Retail Development Chris Hake said in a press release "without the cooperation we received from the City and County, this project would not have been possible."

Thompson Thrift is a real estate development and construction company with offices in Indiana, Texas and Arizona.
