State Senate Candidates Issue Personal Jabs in Debate
By Casey Northcutt
Murray, Ky – Candidates for the third district seat in the state senate got personal during a debate last night, each eventually requesting an apology. The Kentucky New Era reports that Republican challenger Tom Jones and Democratic incumbent Joey Pendleton both complained about their opponents' negative ads and the effect the false advertising has had on their families. Though the candidates spent much of their time discussing who ran the most negative campaign, the debate also covered state issues ranging from cigarette tax increases and casino gambling to education and abortion.
