Democratic former Gov. Phil Bredesen and Republican U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn will participate in a summit on the opioid crisis as they compete for a critical open U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee.

The Healthy Tennessee event Friday at The Hermitage Hotel will also feature the nominees in the open race for governor, Republican Bill Lee and Democrat Karl Dean.

Healthy Tennessee is a nonprofit that provides health education, community training and free screenings through health fairs.

Bredesen and Blackburn are running to replace retiring Republican Sen. Bob Corker.

Lee and Dean hope to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Bill Haslam.
