Union Co. Schools Awarded $40K in EPA Rebates to Reduce Bus Emissions

via Facebook, Union County Public Schools, KY

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded a $40,000 Diesel Emission Reduction Act rebate to Union County Schools on Thursday.

The rebate will fund the retrofitting and replacement of two school buses as part of an effort to reduce emissions.

The new buses will reduce pollutants linked to health problems like asthma and lung damage.

The EPA awarded more than $8.7 million nationally to replace or retrofit 452 older diesel school buses. The funds are going to 141 school bus fleets in 32 states.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt says the rebates will “improve air quality across the country.”
