UPDATE: 88.9 FM All-Classical Murray is now installed and on air. Classical listeners in Murray, change your preset!

We are changing frequency 99.5 FM All-Classical Murray to 88.9 FM All-Classical Murray. The changeover will occur soon.

Thank you again for helping WKMS get all-classical 99.5 FM up and sounding great this year.

As it happens, it sounds a bit too great up towards Benton and is interfering with another 99.5 out of Paducah, whose programming is sports talk. That station’s listeners are complaining. That station was on the air first. So we have to remedy our interference by finding another frequency.

And we have. The FCC has granted WKMS approval to change frequency for the Murray signal to 88.9.

The change means ordering a new antenna tuned to 88.9 FM, and we have done this. We’re not sure exactly when it will be here or when installation can occur, but it will be in the next few weeks.

We’ll let you know on the air when we are more certain when the change is going to happen and when the change has been made, but if you miss those announcements and turn on 99.5 and it’s not there – chances are if you tune to 88.9 it will be there. Give us a call if not – 800-599-4737.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and again, for your support for all-classical music on the FM signal.

Sincerely,

Kate B. Lochte Station Manager
