UPDATE: Preliminary results of the autopsies show Marisol Hernandez and Bulmaro Arellano died as a result of gunshot wounds.

It is believed both children succumbed to smoke inhalation but further testing is being conducted for verification.

According to KSP the investigation shows that the fire was intentionally set to cover up the murders.

The Kentucky State Police are investigating a quadruple homicide after a Tuesday night fire at a residence on KY 121 south in Calloway County.

Around 9:45PM, first responders found the body of a female inside the home, and later discovered three additional bodies including two children.

KSP spokesman Jay Thomas says investigators believe someone intentionally set the fire inside the house. At this time KSP does not have a suspect and is still processing the scene and conducting interviews.

Bulmaro Arellano, 29, Marisol Hernandez, 24 and two children: a 5-year-old boy and a 18-month-old girl, were pronounced dead on the scene by the Calloway County Coroner.

Hernandez also suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound, according to a news release issued by KSP.

Autopsies on all four victims are being scheduled for Thursday in Louisville.

Kentucky State Police is assisted on the scene by the Calloway County Fire - Rescue Department, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, and the Calloway County Coroner’s Office.  Detective Trey Green is leading the investigation.
