Update: The votes have been counted, and Graves County will remain dry. County Clerk Barry Kennemore says 5,400 votes were against alcohol sales, compared to 4,593 in favor.

Original: Graves County voters will head to the polls today to decide whether to allow liquor sales.

In November, County Clerk Barry Kennemore said his office had verified 2,373 signatures from the original petition.

If passed, the referendum will permit both by-the-drink and packaged liquor sales.

The polls for today’s local option are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
