The 2008 Music From The Front Porch Concert Lovett Live and WKMS proudly present: Peter Rowan & Tony Rice Quartet Saturday, January 19 at 7 p.m.
Peter Rowan and Tony Rice have helped reinvent American roots music over the course of their respective solo careers. When they joined forces for their first duo release, 2004’s “You Were There for Me,” they began a bold new chapter in their continuing artistic journey. Rowan’s aching vocals and poignant, poetic songs were elevated by Rice’s elegantly fleet flat-picking, resulting in an album that bore distinct traces of each man’s prior accomplishments, yet achieved a synthesis all its own. Rowan and Rice’s touring Quartet’s latest album, Quartet, is a moving document of this new ensemble, expressing all the fire and fluidity of the band’s remarkable live performances. Bluegrass Now writes that, "The spellbinding synergy of Rowan's soulful serenades and Rice's masterful flat-picking ...it's almost as if the singer and accompanist are one in the same."
Bawn in the Mash wowed the crowd at 2007’s Front Porch concert, and WKMS is pleased that this explosive, inventive band makes a return in 2008. If you did not catch their Lovett Live performance this summer, do not make the same mistake twice.
SEE YOU AT THE SHOW!
