Walker Back in Court Today

Jerry Wayne Walker, Junior is set to appear in Calloway Circuit Court this morning for a hearing on six tampering with evidence charges related to a 1998 Murray State dorm fire that killed a fellow student. The Paducah Sun reports Walker’s attorney Dennis Null hopes the 8:30 am status hearing provides a resolution for the charges. Walker’s tampering with evidence indictments came just before his July acquittal on murder and arson charges for the same incident. Walker faces a maximum of 30 years in prison if found guilty on all charges.

Man cleared in 1998 fatal dorm fire in court again

The Paducah Middle School principal recently acquitted in a fatal Murray State University dorm fire over a decade ago was back in court last week facing charges of evidence tampering.  Jerry Wayne Walker was cleared in July of arson and manslaughter charges by a Marshall County jury.  WPSD-TV reports the allegations of evidence tampering stem from letters Walker wrote in the days following the 1998 fire, where he accused others of starting it.
