A speaking slot at a convention is usually a springboard for wider national appeal. Senator Paul is a rumored running mate for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and a potential presidential candidate in 2016.

McConnell Blasts Absent Democrats at Fancy Farm Picnic

U. S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called out Kentucky democrats for missing the Fancy Farm Picnic this year.

 

McConnell, Kentucky's senior U. S. senator, came to the stage amid a flurry of cheers and jeers from the audience. He then led a roll call of democratic leaders, saying, “Gov. Beshear, are you here? … Lt. Gov. Abramson … Attorney General Conway … State Auditor Edelen …”

Republicans Have Strong Showing at Fancy Farm

The republican party has a strong showing at this year's Fancy Farm Picnic. Less than 20 minutes are left to the start of the political speaking. Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will emcee, and U. S. Sen. Mitch McConnell will lead off the slate of politicians and candidates.
 

Republicans are hoping to cinch a big victory in western Kentucky, with five open races in the general election.

Tennessee Democratic Party Disavows Senate Candidate

The Tennessee Democratic Party is disavowing Mark Clayton as their party's U. S. Senate nominee, saying the little-known candidate belongs to a hate group. Clayton, a floor installer, received twice the votes of his nearest competitor in a seven-candidate Democratic primary Thursday.

Observers says Gay Marriage Plank in DNC Platform Won't Likely Affect Kentucky Democrats

Centre College to Host Second Presidential Debate

In ten weeks, political observers will focus their gaze on Danville.  Centre College hosts a second vice presidential debate. Its first was 12 years ago.   Last  night on Kentucky Educational Television, Lucas Weton ,who’s president of the Centre College Republicans, says they learned a lot from that first debate.
