Scott Ellison says fishing ranges from so-so to fairly good depending on what you’re trying to catch.

Colin Moore here, filling in for Scott Ellison with the FLW Weekly Fishing Report. Scott is on the road, tending to a tournament in Maryland, but wanted me to say hi for him and wish everybody good fishing.

As there hasn’t been enough rain to settle the dust, the lake is about three feet low and there’s no sign that it’s going to go up anytime soon. Still, the air temperature has moderated, the water level is staying fairly stable and the fishing has gotten a lot better for most species.

Today on NPR:  Chen Guangcheng is one of China's best-known activists for his fight against forced abortions. Security forces had been stationed outside his house for 18 months, but he managed to escape despite being blind. His exact whereabouts are unknown, but supporters say he's safe.

Dave Washburn says fishing is fairly good when the wind will let you get out on the lake.

Hi, I’m Dave Washburn, with the FLW Weekly Fishing Report. Depending on what you’re targeting, fishing is fairly good when the wind will let you get out on the lake. Bass, bluegill and shellcracker are the headliners, but you’ve got to cover water and make a lot of casts to do well.

FLW's Scott Ellison says high winds put a crimp in everybody's fishing but conditions are improving.

You’ll have to pardon me if there are a lot of gaps in this week’s report, because the high winds that we had beginning Sunday put a crimp in everybody’s fishing. It’s supposed to be relatively calm for the next several days, however, so that should let the fishermen catch up on what they’ve been missing.

Dave Washburn says the cold weather may have dampened fishing conditions, but didn’t stop it completely.
