Cantrell Elected to KLC Executive Board

The Kentucky League of Cities has elected Mayfield Mayor Teresa Cantrell to the group’s Executive Board. The new position comes after her election to the KLC’s Board of Directors last year. Cantrell will continue to serve in her previous position as well as the new one. She says the top two items on the upcoming KLC agenda are Retirement Reform and City Revenue Issues.

Tornado Touches Down in Mayfield

An EF-1 tornado hit Mayfield early Sunday morning injuring one and causing moderate damage to several buildings. The tornado touched down southeast of the Highway 80 and Purchase Parkway intersection around 6:35 a.m. with peak winds at 105 miles per hour. Several cars were shifted in a parking lot and one business lost part of its roof. No fatalities were reported.

Mayfield Man Receives 60 Year Army Service Pin

A Mayfield man living in a Graves County retirement center has been honored as the oldest Kentucky member of the Disabled American Veterans. John Baldree (102 in March) has received a 60-year service pin this weekend.
