Paducah Mandates Alcoholic Beverage Server Training

The Paducah City Commission approved an ordinance last night requiring alcoholic beverage training for persons licensed for or employed in the sale of alcoholic beverages by the drink.  The training is to include the identification of false documents, recognition of intoxication, and liability issues.  It is also to explain how to handle different scenarios such as confronting a patron who needs to be cut off.  Current employees must receive training within 90 days of the ordinance’s adoption and all employees hired afterwards have 60 days from their date of hire to complete the program.  R

Next Phase of Greenway Trail Ready to Bid

The City of Paducah has received the green light from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to take bids for the next phase of the Greenway Trail project. This phase will complete a new stretch of trail that follows the floodwall earthen levee from the Expo Center in downtown Paducah to North 8th Street near the Brookport Bridge. Bids will be advertised this weekend with a bid opening scheduled in May. Construction will begin this summer with an official groundbreaking ceremony. The project is expected to take 120 days to complete.

Human Rights Commission Honors Habitat for Humanity

In Paducah, the Human Rights Commission paid tribute to fair housing practices in the area by honoring Habitat for Humanity and the Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center with Fair Housing Awards on Thursday.  Casey Northcutt  provides a quick update on the efforts in Paducah to build homes for low-income families.

Homes have sprung up around the area as part of a citywide effort to provide housing to all segments of the population.
