Mortgage Facility Expansion Planned in Owensboro

U.S. Bancorp officials say they're  investing $15-million to expand their Owensboro offices and  add 332 jobs.

The facility currently employs 1900 people who handle a portion of the bank's 1.6 million home mortgage loans. Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne says U.S. Bank has been a large contributor to the city’s increase in revenue over the past decades. This is the facility's third expansion since the mortgage servicing center opened in the 1970’s.

Owensboro Mayor Proposing Skateboard Ban

The mayor of Owensboro says he is proposing a skateboard ban due to vandalism.  Mayor Ron Payne says skateboards and bikes caused about $4,000 worth of damage last week at Riverfront Crossing Plaza, which opened downtown just six months ago.  Payne says he will propose an ordinance that would outlaw skateboards in the downtown area and stop bicyclists from jumping in the air to do tricks.  He says he will also propose more security downtown and that video cameras be mounted in strategic locations.

Owensboro Mayor Proposing Downtown Skateboarding Ban

Owensboro’s mayor says he’s proposing a skateboard ban due to vandalism in city parks. Mayor Ron Payne said skateboards and bikes caused about $4,000 worth of damage this weekend at Riverfront Crossing Plaza, which opened downtown just six months ago. Payne told the Messenger-Inquirer he’s proposing an ordinance to outlaw skateboards in the area and stop bicyclists from jumping in the air to do tricks. His proposal also includes more security downtown including video cameras in strategic locations.
