The Eggners Ferry Bridge may open a few hours ahead of schedule this Memorial Day weekend, but officials say don't plan on it. Yesterday, crews worked on the curbs and guardrails.

Wreck Blocking Traffic at I-24 Ohio River Bridge

We have a report of a multi-vehicle crash blocking traffic on I-24 Westbound at the Ohio River Bridge in Paducah. Officials have set up a detour at Exit 3, rerouting to US 45 and the Irvin Cobb Bridge, but no commercial trucks are allowed on this route. Officials estimate it will take another four hours to restore traffic across the bridge.

Report Recommends Closing Southern Illinois Supermax Prison

An Illinois prison watchdog group supports Governor Pat Quinn’s proposal to shutter the Tamms Correctional Center. While a legislative committee recommended last month keeping the facility open, a new John Howard Association report finds the state simply cannot afford its only supermax prison.

Paducah Softball Coach Arrested for Rape

Police arrested a Paducah Middle School softball coach yesterday after learning about an alleged inappropriate relationship with a 14-year old girl. 27-year-old Sammy Montgomery is charged with third-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse.
