Trigg Co. Car Accident Kills Four

A driver and three teenagers are dead after a Saturday morning car accident in Trigg County. David Shoaf of Cadiz was driving north on Kentucky 274 when he collided with a farm tractor driven by Carl Calhoun. The 30-year-old Shoaf, along with Dalton McDougall, Kimberly Shafer, and Lindsey Sholar, were all pronounced dead at the scene.

I-24 Semi Fire and Lane Closure

Kentucky transportation officials report eastbound lanes on Interstate-24 remain closed Friday morning in Trigg County near the 65 mile marker. A tractor-trailer rig carrying pears is on fire. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says firefighters brought in a backhoe to break open the trailer to access the burning cargo inside.

I-24 Lane Remains Restricted Following Fatal Crash

Cleanup workers will likely be on site at a fatal crash site on Interstate 24 until around 5:30 today. Westbound traffic on I-24 in Trigg County near the 62 mile marker is down to one lane. Transportation cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says personnel continue to clean up and repair the site of a late night semi trailer crash.

Judge Declares Mistrial in Russell Case

Trigg Circuit Judge C.A. Woodall has declared a mistrial in the trial of Claude Russell, who was charged with killing Chantell Humphries in 2002. The Kentucky New Era reports the action came Monday night after a nine-day trial when jurors twice reported they could not come up with a unanimous verdict. Humphries' body was found on a cattle farm in Trigg County in June 2002.
